Developing young talent is something that every promotion struggles with, specially with the aging MMA superstars that are now starting to exit their prime. Two of the very best fighters from M-1 Challenge will be facing off on the undercard of Affliction III: Trilogy as Lucio Lihares (12-4) and Mikhail Zayats (8-3) have been confirmed to do battle.

M-1Global.com was the first to break the news of the middleweight bout.

The event is set for August 1 and will take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. and will be headlined by a heavyweight bout between Fedor Emelianenko and Josh Barnett.

Linhares is a Team Finland fighter that has won his last four straight bouts with a recent win over UFC veteran Sean Salmon while Zayats competes for Fedor Emelianenko’s Team Russia Imperial and has dropped his last two bouts after going on a four fight win streak.

In yet another show of support for the “M-1 Challenge Presented by Affliction,” Affliction officials in conjunction with M-1 Global have added a heavyweight showcase featuring two of the top emerging stars of the M-1 Challenge to the undercard of Affliction and M-1′s “Trilogy” pay-per-view event on Aug. 1 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

Team Benelux’s Jessie Gibbs will take on Team England’s Rob Broughton on the “Trilogy” undercard. Broughton and Gibbs will join a “Trilogy” card that is already scheduled to feature M-1 Global contracted fighters Fedor Emelianenko and Gegard Mousasi.

It was officially announced that a bout between M-1 Challenge veterans

Lucio Linhares and Mikhail Zayats has been added to Affliction: Trilogy.

This fight is a rematch to a competitive bout between the two last June which was awarded to Zayats by unanimous decision. While Linhares is on a four fight winning streak, Zayats is trying to rebound from the first back to back losses of his career.

Affliction and M-1 Global officials have added a second bout to showcase fighters from the “M-1 Challenge Presented by Affliction” during the upcoming “Trilogy” pay-per-view event scheduled for Aug. 1 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

The second bout joins the previously announced M-1 Challenge showcase matchup between heavyweights Rob Broughton of Team England and Jessie Gibbs of Team Benelux.
